
Making Meaning: How to Read Media Messages
Step into a learning experience to deconstruct media messages and help your students develop their critical and analytical skills. Develop your own curriculum-driven approach with media literacy activities, exercises and/or lesson plans with support and feedback to have something tangible to use in the classroom.
6-week course includes:
1 hour live session each week, with interactive exercises, activities and Q&A, on Zoom.
1-2 hours of self-paced learning and assignments per week, in Canvas (LMS).
This is an 15-18 hour, hybrid synchronous and asynchronous course with instructor support.

This Making Meaning: How To Read Media Messages course is designed for 6-12 grade teachers and administrators who want to integrate media literacy into their virtual or real-life classrooms. Very few will be “media literacy teachers”; most will teach history, social studies, language arts, visual arts and other subjects where an ability to deconstruct and evaluate media messages is essential to learning.
