UNESCO Bangkok Office and APCEIU will hold the "Integrating GCED in Policy and Practice: The ACER-APCEIU Global Citizenship Education Monitoring Toolkit Orientation Workshop" on Tuesday, 29 April 2025, at 1 PM (Bangkok, GMT+7)/ 3PM (Seoul, GMT+9).

This online workshop aims to introduce the ACER-APCEIU Global Citizenship Education Monitoring Toolkit (hereinafter “the Toolkit”) and strengthen the capacities of education stakeholders—including system leaders, school leaders, and teachers—for effectively integrating Global Citizenship Education (GCED) into policy and practice. The workshop forms part of broader efforts to realize the transformative power of education emphasised in The Recommendation on Education for Peace and Human Rights, International Understanding, Cooperation, Fundamental Freedoms, Global Citizenship and Sustainable Development, adopted at the 42nd session of the UNESCO General Conference in 2023.

The Toolkit is the outcome of a three-year collaborative project between APCEIU and the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), developed in response to the growing importance of GCED and the ongoing lack of systematized approaches for its integration into educational settings. It offers concrete guidance and tools for education stakeholders at various levels—system leaders, school leaders, and teachers—to implement the principles of GCED within their specific contexts.

A highlight of the workshop will be a breakout activity in which participants will apply the Toolkit to a real-world scenario and collaboratively develop an action plan. This hands-on session will be facilitated by key contributors to the research project, including Rachel Parker (Global Play Lab) and Karena Menzie-Ballantyne (CQUniversity Australia), as well as Sunmi Ji (Head of Research and Development) and Yoon-Young Lee (Programme Specialist) of APCEIU. Participants will have the opportunity to directly explore the Toolkit’s practical applications and learn how it can support GCED planning and implementation from multiple perspectives—system leaders, school leaders, and teachers.
